Nathaniel kept the grist mill on the Blackwater brook for nearly forty years, and the account book he left behind records half the town passing over his threshold. He served two terms as a selectman and, by the recollection of his granddaughter, never once raised his voice in meeting.[4]
NOTE: The barque Corinth was lost with all hands in August 1842; Pratt (p. 131) is the only account naming Levi among the crew. No official casualty list has been found.
